It ain't the ambiance that will bring you back, but the Thai food will. Score another coup for Rexburg variety. Just two years ago, you couldn't find any unique opportunities; now, you'll have to think twice before heading to Idaho Falls! My wife's final words as we left the restaurant: "We'll have to come back here." She had just finished a chicken and broccoli entree served with a delicious peanut sauce--and had chosen the mild spice. We're too conservative; next time we'll have to try the spice at level 3.
Before we could get out the door, she decided that next time she'll try the Satae Chicken or the Massaman. We arrived Friday at 5:00 p.m. and had the place to ourselves until another family came in at 5:30. I had made up my mind that I would write my first negative review when I could see so many remnants of The Old Mesquite Grill. The older Thai couple, the only workers present, didn't speak much English and the unfamiliar menu put me on edge. Soon a new server showed up--a young man from Japan who is visiting friends in the area.
I had eaten earlier, so I only ordered a dessert: sweet rice and mango--I've never cared much for either, but I wanted to try something a bit uncomfortable. Frankly, I loved the rice and the fresh mango enhanced the fun vanilla, custard flavor of the rice. I relaxed, and when Susan's entree came, we both loved the new experience. My family has long been hooked on Fong's #10, but the next time we get take-out, I'm voting for Teton Thai! By the way, after getting an after-dinner chocolate at Mom's Kandy Kitchen, we came back to get in the car and the place was packed.
